第十集：午夜

Cinderella dropped the prince's hand.
灰姑娘松开了王子的手。

She ran outside as the clock struck 12.
时钟敲响十二点时，她跑到了外面。

"Wait!" the prince shouted. "Don't go!"
"等等！" 王子喊道，"别走！"

Cinderella started down the steps.
灰姑娘开始下台阶。

One of her glass shoes fell off.
她的一只水晶鞋掉了下来。

Cinderella looked back, but it was too late to get the shoe.
灰姑娘回头看，但已经来不及捡鞋了。

Her golden coach was already a pumpkin.
她的金色马车已经变成了南瓜。

Her beautiful gown was an ugly old rag.
她漂亮的礼服变成了丑陋的旧破布。

Again, the prince ran down the steps. "Where is the princess?" he cried.
王子又跑下了台阶。"公主在哪里？" 他喊道。

He ran past Cinderella.
他从灰姑娘身边跑过。

Cinderella's heart sank. He didn't know that she was the princess.
灰姑娘的心沉了下去 —— 他不知道她就是那位公主。

Slowly, she began to walk home.
她慢慢地开始往家走。

The prince went back up the steps.
王子回到了台阶上。

Near the top step, something sparkled.
在最上面的台阶附近，有什么东西在闪闪发光。

The prince picked it up. "What's this?"
王子把它捡了起来。"这是什么？"

Cinderella got home. She was tired and cold. She added a log to the fire.
灰姑娘回到了家，又累又冷，往火里加了一根木柴。

Later, the stepsisters came home.
后来，继姐妹们回家了。

"How was the ball?" Cinderella asked. "Was the beautiful princess there again?"
"舞会怎么样？" 灰姑娘问，"那位美丽的公主又去了吗？"

"Yes." Gert made a face. "She left at midnight, but the prince kept talking about her. He even found something of hers."
"是的。" 格特做了个鬼脸，"她午夜时离开了，但王子一直在谈论她，他甚至找到了她的一样东西。"

Cinderella leaned forward. "What did he find?"
灰姑娘向前倾了倾身。"他找到了什么？"

"A glass shoe," Trudy said. "It's really pretty."
"一只水晶鞋。" 特鲁迪说，"真的很漂亮。"

"Cinderella!" stepmother snapped. "Get our beds ready."
"灰姑娘！" 继母厉声说，"去给我们铺床。"
